150 Year Anniversary - The Final Act
The last Sunday of the Church year, Christ the King, was also the final Sunday in the year of celebration and thanksgiving to mark the 150 years of worship, prayer and mission at All Saints Clifton.
The Principal Celebrant at the Sung Eucharist was Bishop Viv, Bishop of Bristol, who also preached. This was followed by lunch and drinks for all who attended and wished to stay. It was a great day – a fitting conclusion to a year of activity which has brought a very significant number of people into the church to attend concerts, exhibitions, talks and performances; and has worked to make the church more visible and active in the community.
‘Off The Record’ (OTR), the young person’s mental health charity in Bristol has been the designated charity for the Anniversary Year. In the summer guests at the ‘Opera Picnic’ in the All Saints Gardens, donated £5,000 to OTR; Hollis Morgan agreed to match this figure (again £5,000) with a donation given at the Anniversary Service; and a final donation will be made later as part of the planned charity giving at All Saints. The financial gifts already donated this year equate to more than 2,000 hours of counselling.
