Centenary Exhibition of the British Society of Master Glass Painters

The Festival Background
 
During December and January, All Saints’ Church will host an exceptional travelling exhibition of contemporary stained glass to celebrate one hundred years of the British Society of Master Glass Painters.

The exhibition showcases a striking display of stained glass by some sixty artists from the UK and around the world. It explores a variety of subjects and themes that have affected, influenced, and inspired a range of contemporary glass artists, from the environment to the COVID-19 pandemic and the beauty of nature.

It offers a unique insight into the fascinating history of stained glass, an art-form that has been practised in Britain for at least thirteen hundred years. All the stained glass panels are displayed at eye-level enabling visitors to have a rare close-encounter with the art of stained glass that bathe the church in vibrant light and colour.

Monday – Saturday 10.00am – 6.00pm. Sunday 11.00am – 6.00pm.

The British Society of Master Glass Painters
Founded in 1921, the British Society of Master Glass Painters has offered a forum for all lovers of stained glass and is the UK’s only membership organisation devoted exclusively to the art and craft of stained glass. Its mission is to be the foremost authority on the contemporary and historic stained glass in Britain.

Commemorates Piper’s ‘life in art’ with words and music from members of his artistic circle, reflecting the people and places of his world’

Design a Window Children’s Workshop

Explore the exhibition, then create and take home your own stained-glass inspired designs. Suitable for supervised children aged 4-11, but wider family welcome too. Drop-in style, so come for as short or as long a time as you like!
